A democratic country basically allows its people the right to raise voices on their decisions. The government has to explain each and every of its decisions in order to maintain peace in the country. As we see, in the other type of government, Monarch, the king and queen do not have to explain their actions. There are a group of people to help them but the main decision power remains with 'em. So, for example, India is a democracy, because it allows its people the right to vote and explains its steps taken.
