The animal cells do not have a cell wall.

They only have the cell membrane .

This is an essential feature which helps us to distinguish between animal and plant cells.

There are other features to distinguish between plants and animals :

(i) Plants have mitochondria whereas animals don't have .

(ii) Plants have large vacuoles while animals don't have.

(iii) Plants don't have centrioles whereas animals have centrioles.

Remember always that plants have cell wall which is absent in animal cells.

However certain micro organism belonging to the group of plants also do not have cell wall. But they are only an exception.
