To protect the flora and fauna of the country, the government has taken the following steps:

a. Fourteen biosphere reserves have been set up by the government to protect the flora and fauna.

b. Many botanical gardens have also been set up, and financial and technical assistance is granted to them.

c. Many developmental programmes such as Project Rhino, Project Tiger etc. have been introduced.

d. India has 490 wild life sanctuaries and zoological gardens and 89 national parks to protect its flora and fauna.

e. Many awareness programmes have been launched by the government to make people aware of our fast depleting plant and animal resources.

2. FINACIAL AND TECTNICAL ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDE TO MANY BOTANICAL GARDENS BY THE GOVERNMENT SINCE 1992

3. PROJECT TIGER, RHINO, GREAT INDIAN BUSTARD AND MANY OTHERS ECODEVELOPEMENT PROJECTS HAVE BEEN INTRODUCED.

4. 89 NATIONAL PARKS, 490 WILDLIFE SANTUARIES AND ZOOLOGICAL GARDENS ARE SET UP TO TAKE CARE OF NATURAL HERITAGE.
