  • The east india comapny started taking control over the ports to gain manopoly rights over the indian traders
  • The company the employed gomastas, who were trusted servants of the comapny. The gomasta weren't from the village and they had no understanding between the weavers either. The gomastas would go to villages and provide them with advances which the weavers had to accept and harass them to get goods on time.
  • They imposed a tariff which was basically a tax which the indian weavers had to pay if they had to export goods to the european countries . These taxes were very high and the indian weavers couldnt pay so much.
  • the farmers were forced to grow crops for the britishers and there was a shortage of raw materials for the indian weavers .
  • in this way gradually the company stared taking control over the silk and cotton goods.
