Martial law
A system of rules that takes effect when a military authority takes control of the normal administration of justice is called martial law.
The movement led by Leck Walesa became so popular that the government signed an agreement and for the first time an independent trade union was formed ,it was named as solidarity and within a year solidarity swept across the Poland with one crore members.
The government led by general jaruzelski grew anxious and imposed martial law in December 1981.
Thousands of solidarity members were put on prison, freedom to organise, protest and express opinions were the steps taken by jaruzelski's government during martial law.
