Let, the sum of money be 'x'

∴S.I.= (P×R×T)/100

      =(X×4×4)/100

      =16 X/100

      =4 X/25

    ∴  Amount =(X + 4 X /25)

                      =(25 X+4 X)÷25

                       =29 X/25

By condition,

29 X/ 25 =1044

⇒29 X =1044×25

⇒X =(1044×25)÷29

⇒X= 36×25

⇒X=900

∴The sum of money is Rs.900

Sol: Principal = Rs 900 Amount = Rs 1044Time = 4 years Let the rate of interest = R% Simple interest = A - P = 1044 - 900 = Rs 144 Simple interest = (P × T × R) / 100144 = (900 × 4 × R) / 100 ⇒ R = (144 × 100) / (900 × 4) ⇒ R = 4 Therefore, rate of interest is 4% Case (ii) Let the Principal = P Rate of interest = 4% Time = 3 1/2 years = 7/2 years Amount = Rs 1368 Simple interest = A - P = (1368 - P) Simple interest = (P × T × R) / 100 (1368 - P) = (P × 7/2 × 4) / 100 ⇒ (1368 - P) = 0.14 P ⇒ 1.14 P = 1368 ⇒ P = 1200 Therefore, sum of money is Rs 1200.
