Let the principle sum = x

Time "n" = 3 years

Rate = 3% per annum

Simple Interest = 36

Simple Interest = P x R x T/100

36 = x. 3 x 3/100

x = 36 x 100/9

x = 400

Hence the sum that would yield interest is 400.
