what this statement means?

As the temperature increases the kinetic energy of the particles also increases.

Explain in simple language

Hi Nikki ,
the energy possess by an object due to virtue of motion of its particles is called the kinetic energy as when we provide heat to particles they get energetic and start move so , we can conclude that if we raise the temperature the movement of particles increase i.e. kinetic energy increases.

When temperature of a substance is increased the particles in it starts vibrating i.e the kinetic energy increases.This inturn decreases the intermolecular force of attraction and increases the intermolecular space between the particles.
