The discrimination did the people of Calcutta experience after it became the British capital in India are:

1. The British part was known as a white town where is the Indian part was known as the Black Town.

2. The Indian part was inhabited by the poor. It had congested streets and shanties where as the British part had sprawling bungalows and with open wide spaces.
