Type of houses built in Ladakh
- The land in Ladakh is elevated, dry, and flat. The houses in hilly regions are created of wood along with other elements because it maintains them warm and is not relatively heavy as most of the houses are constructed on rocky and hilly landscapes, so hefty houses would fall.
- The houses in Ladakh are constructed of stones, and most of the houses are on just two floors, the ground, and the first floor as larger houses would dis-balance under the harsh conditions in these regions. The walls of these houses are covered with mud and lime and the floor and ceiling are prepared of wood, as all these safeguard the people living inside from the cold climate.
- Ladakh lies at a height of 3,524 m so it has a cold desert temperature. The winters are cold and long with temperatures reasonably below freezing temperature.
