NECESSARY IMPROVISIONS

1.) The storage should be well ventilated to ensure proper aeration.

2.) The materials used to make the storage especially for traditional storage should be replaced frequently since the plan material rots after some time.

3.) The crops should be well dried before storage.

4.) Fumigation should be done once in a while to prevent pest and rodents attack to the grains.

5.) For warehouses, we should ensure that they are easy to clean and maintain.

6.) The warehouse should have at least two doors for stock rotation purposes.

7.) The warehouse should have adequate lighting for easy working within the warehouse.

The second big concern of farmers is to how store the grain food after harvesting them. In order to maintain the quality and quantity of grain, farmers should improvise latest ways of storage. These are the improvisations that can be made:

- Grains must be stored at a well aerated and lighted place to keep it dry.

- If they are kept in plastic containers, make sure you use BPA free plastic containers.

- To keep the insects and flies away, make sure the storage rooms are well fumigated

- Prefer to use stainless steel and air tight jars

- Some grains are stored at low temperature, for example Bengal green gram and split green gram. They must be stored in air tight jars and keep them in deep freezers to keep them save from spoilage and to increase their shelf life.
