Anaerobic respiration takes place during exercising, that is respiration with lack of oxygen....During intense exercising due to lack of oxygen body dissolves glucose to produce energy and also lactic acid is produced as by-product.

During anaerobic respiration,your muscles cells use sugar to make ATP,but they don't use o2.this process produces lactate,which is quickly converted into lactic acid,which makes your muscle burn.lactic acid,as you may experienced,makes it harder to exercise
