Coal is not a rock. It is an Anhydrous compound of Carbon. It is formed in nature as a result of slow bacterial decomposition of vegetable matter (plants) under the influence of heat, pressure & limited air, over a millions of years.

☆The four types of coal are-

▪Peat (60% Carbon)

▪ Lignite (65% Carbon)

▪ Bituminous (85% Carbon)

▪ Anthracite (90% Carbon)

Hope it helps!
