Mostly alluvial soil
It contains a large amount of clayey and fine particles and silt as a result they are suitable for cultivation.This is the reason why the deltaic regions are intensively populated and cultivated.These soil gets renewed each year due to flood and this ensure soil fertility.

Alluvial soil is found in the deltas of rivers like Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna and Kaveri, on the eastern coastal plains.
Features of the alluvial soil are:-
It contains different proportion of sand, silt and clay.
It is very fertile and good for growth of wheat,paddy,sugar cane,pulses etc.
It contain right proportion of potash,lime and phosphoric acid.
In drier regions like Rajasthan, it is alkaline and require proper treatment for irrigation.
