A river in its mid course forms plains/ river baisins. In its lower course it forms deltas , riverine islands and estuaries.

Repeated floods cause the mounds to build up and form levees. A delta: is a low, watery land formed at the mouth of a river. It is formed from the silt, sand and small rocks that flow downstream in the riverand are deposited in the delta.
