Fresh water lakes: these are found in Himalayan region and the Wular Lake in J&K is the biggest example. Salt Water Lake: these are mainly found in the coastal regions. Chilika lake, Pulicat Lake is the example. Man made lakes: river dams for generating hydroelectricity.
