QWERTY

Explanation:

This keyboard layout that we use today was invented by Christopher when he was making a typewriter.

Initially, the typewriter keyboard was made in a way that the keys were jamming the metal arms. So, he rearranged some of the keys which represented commonly used letters such as "t", "s" etc. so that typing was made easy.

Thus, the layout that came out to be is known as "qwerty".

QWERTY

Explanation:

On July 1, 1874, the Remington typewriter hit the market. It sported the earliest version of what would become the keyboard layout we still use today. So the QWERTY keyboard was launched 142 years ago. The earliest model had some mechanical problems where the keys jammed if pressed in too rapid succession. Christopher Latham Sholes' solution was to separate the commonly used letter pairings, such as "ST," to avoid these jams, effectively allowing the typist to type faster.

The QWERTY layout looked like this:

2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 - ,

Q W E . T Y I U O P

Z S D F G H J K L M

A X & C V B N ? ; R

This model went into made changes over time to arrive at the QWERTY layout we use today.
