Answer:

Explanation:

Birsa Munda born on 15th November 1875. He was a  freedom fighter and a tribal leader belonging to the Munda tribe of Chhotanagpur area.

Under the British colonial system of transforming the tribal agrarian system into feudal state gathered pace. Since the tribals used primitive technology, they were in no position to produce a surplus. This led to influx of non-tribal peasantry to carry cultivation as well as allowing them to settle on the directive of the chiefs in Chhotanagpur .This arrangement kept the tribals become alienated to their own lands.

In order to overcome this twin challenge of cultural change and  agrarian breakdown, Birsa under his leadership along with the Munda resorted to a number of uprisings and revolts. The movement was carried out to make  Mundas the real owners of the land and the eliminate the role of middlemen and the British.

The British were jolted by this movement and soon after Birsa`s death on  9th June 1900 , the colonial government established the Chotanagpur Tenancy Act in 1908 which banned the transfer of tribal land to non-tribals. This ensured that the land of the tribals  would not be taken away by the non-tribal.

Hope this helps.

is known to have mobilised the tribal community against the British and had also forced the colonial officials to introduce laws protecting the land rights of the tribals.a tribal leader.
