Anti-semitism is the prejudice against the Jews. This hatred prevailed in Europe till the 1600s, but slowly faded away until 1880s.

In 1800s, Europe was developing in terms of industry and business.  During the 1880s, as anti-semitism grew in Europe, Jews were kicked out of businesses and the public sector.

They were discriminated against socially as well. This hatred and prejudice eventually led to the Holocaust during the 1900s.
