The British wanted to capture Bengal and conspired with Nawab's commander in chief Mir Jafar to help them win the battle and he will be rewarded as the position of Nawab of Bengal. The conspiracy proved itself as a helping hand and British won the battle arriving at the door steps of the weakening Mughal Empire and provided them with a launching path to establish their rule in India.
