What was dobereiner’s basis of classifying elements? Give an example.

⇒ Dobereiner's law of triads states that " Elements arranged in increasing atomic weights when arranged in groups of three called triads show characteristics similar.

⇒ The atomic weight of the middle elements was the average of the other two elements .

⇒ Method was discarded as it did not hold true for all elements

Lithium : 7

Potassium : 39

Sodium : 23

Sodium =  ( 39 + 7 ) / 2

                     = 46 / 2

                     = 23

Thus the mean.
