We came across this quote by Albert Einstein in which he beautifully articulates what he felt is the role of education. It reveals an ambitious and holistic view that you'd expect from such a man, yet what he describes simply makes perfect sense. In essence it describes Montessori philosophy. It describes what we aim to achieve through the Montessori methods and that is to consider the whole child, giving equal weight to their emotional/social development as the academic.
Elsa was Albert's cousin. She lived in Berlin. Her father was a businessman. He had his business in Berlin Albert met Elsa when she came to Munich. She told him that if he said he could learn enough to pass the examination. Passing them was not difficult. she also told him that you lots of boys who was much mor one stupid and Albert. they had passed easily.
