Gopi  was a man of plutocrats. He forgot  his mother's  service and immolation. What he  he care was,for the status.  He didn't get anything for his mother when he came home after a gap of five years and even  to take away his share of the family .

She has a blanket, the one  which Gopi bought for her when he was studying in Madras. It was all tattered then, just a ball of knotted yarn.

But , now she has been overpowered by forgetfulness. She needed a red blanket as the old one was tattered.

Here , the blanket represented  the warmth of her son’s love. She actually needs her son’s love.
