When John Hallock was in the state of helplessness, the ghost of Helen once appeared . The circumstances so turned out that Lavinia was also confronted with the ghost of Helen . But she did not swoon or faint. She rather heaved a sigh of relief on discovering that the ghost of Helen was not the Helen of troy and that she looked quite ugly .She thought that there is no chance that her husband could have an affair with such a disgusting ghost . Lavinia decided to stay back with her but .
So it proved good for John that the ghost of Helen appeared front of his wife .

Lavinia faced the ghost bravely. She thought that Hallock was hiding some women in the room. On realizing that it was only a ghost of women, she felt great relief. She gave a broad smile. She fell forgivingly into Hallock's arm.
