The Scenario Back Then In 1905:
Though the fact that the then Bengal with a humongous population of 78 million was difficult to be administered is true, it was not the real motive behind the Bengal Partition of 1905.
The City of Calcutta enjoyed the status of Capital for whole British India. Not only that Calcutta was the Capital but also was the nerve centre of Indian National Congress.
This did not go well with the British, who saw in Indian National Congress the determination to achieve Independence.
Lord Curzon was the then Viceroy of India.
