Macaulay learnt that traditional education system in India made Indians attached to their own tradition, culture and rituals. But since that meant useless for colonial rule, he thought of changing the educational system in India. British India was in need of people who can do clerical jobs. So Macaulay proposed an educational system where indian students are taught in medium of English as well as introduced to westernization.
