ANSWER:

The Rowlatt Act was approved in 1919 counter to the disapproval of the Indian members. The Act permitted the British Govt. to overpower political activities and detain or arrest political prisoners for 2 years with no trial.

EXPLANATION:

In spite of strong opposition, the Rowlatt Act was approved in the year March 1919. The intention of this Act was to restrain the rising nationalist expansion within the nation. Mahatma Gandhiji, amongst other Indian leaders, was very critical of and disapproved this Act and claimed that not everybody must be reproved in retort to isolated political wrongdoings.

Mahatma Gandhiji wanted non-violent civil disobedience counter to such unfair law. Therefore, Gandhiji went on a countrywide protest, that is, Satyagraha against the intended Rowlatt Act of 1919.
