Option A, the British outlawed many Indian traditions, is the right answer.

In February 1857 The British issued the Sepoy (Indian soldiers of Bengal army) with new gunpowder cartridges for the Enfield rifle. At the time when the Indian soldiers were provided with the rifles, a rumour spread around that the cartridges were manufactured from cow and pig fat. Therefore in order to load the enfiled required one to open the greased cartridge with the mouth. This action according to the  Indian soldiers insulted the religious practices of both Hindu and  Muslims. Therefore, to protect their religion, the Indian soldier began the rebellion which later spread in many parts of India.

Answer:

Historians have identified diverse political , economic, military, religious and social causes of the Indian rebellion of 1857

Explanation:

Historians have identified diverse political , economic, military, religious and social causes of the Indian rebellion of 1857. an uprising in several Sepoy companies of the Bengal army was sparked by the issue of new gunpowder cartridges for the Enfield rifle in February 1857.

the British wanted Indian soldiers to use rifle cartridges that were greased with animal fat.

relations between the Indian soldiers (Sepoy) in the armed forces that the East India company kept in India and the British authorities were very poor in the 1850.

the Sepoy felt that the British did not respect their religion and this was a major reason for their mutiny in 1857 that promoted the great rebellion.
