what was pungi? how was it converted to Shehnai? why was it named so?

Pungi’ a musical instrument was banned because of its shrill and unpleasant sound. But a nai modified and perfected it and played it for the first time an Shah’s chamber, thus it came to be known as ‘Shehnai’.

pungi was a musical instrument which has unpleasant sound due to which it was banned by the Shah's

shehnai was played in Shah's palace and it was played by the barber(nai) that's why it was named shehnai
