The idea of Satyagraha emphasised the power of truth and the need to search for it .
It suggested that if the cause was true and the struggle was against injustice then no physical force is necessary to fight the oppressor , a Satyagrahi could win the battle through means of non-violence by appealing to the conscience of the oppressor .

Gandhi organised 3 successful Satyagrahas in India between 1916-1918 .

1) In 1916- Champaran ( Bihar ) - to inspire the Indigo plantation workers against oppressive plantation system .

2) In 1917 - khedha district ( Gujarat ) to support the peasants of khedha regarding tax relaxation .

3) In 1918 Ahmedabad to support the cotton will workers ( rise in wages ) .
