The causes of conflict between the three power during the AD 750 to 1000 was the control over Kannauj

Explanation:

  • The Palas, the Pratiharas and the Rastrakutas were involved in the triple struggle over the control of Kannauj in the 8th century.
  • The control over Kannauj lies in its significance. It was well connected to the Silk route thereby making the location strategically and commercially important. This made the three dynasties to fight against each other to gain a control over the place.
  • The Palas, Pratiharas and Rastrakutas ruled eastern, western and Deccan India respectively. The former two fought against each other continuously resulting in defeat of the Palas. However Palas were defeated by the Rastrakutas later enabling them to gain the location. But when the rastrakutas king went back to Deccan Palas took advantage and overthrown them.
  • Likewise this struggle went on for two centuries thereby weakening them over the course of time followed by political disintegration of the country.
