what was the civil right movement?how was it different from the black power movement

It was the movement to stop the racial segregation and many other discriminations by non-violence.
It was different from black power movement because supporters of black power movement were using the violence to get the equal rights but civil rights movement's supporters not.

Civil rights movt (1954-1968)
It refers to a set of reform movements aimed at legally abolishing racial discrimination against afro-americans . it was led by Martin Luther king junior. This movement was practiced in a non violent method.

The black power movement (1966-1975)
It was more militant and anti racist movement. It advocates even violence if necessary to stop racism in USA .
