The civilising mission of the French in Vietnam was a mission in which the French undertook several measures and procedures to modernise the country of Vietnam.

The French belonged to a developed nation and approached Vietnam stating that it was their duty to make Vietnam civilised.

The French basically used the civilising mission as a rational reason for colonising Vietnam and civilising the common mass of the country, thus aiming to make it a modernised and developed country.
