before the British rule India was a self-sufficient in Textiles and cotton products but during the British rules India fell down to the position off important clothes to England. in 19th century A.D

the largest producers of fine cotton textiles in the whole world. textiles were exported to Java, Sumatra, penang, etc. industrial revolution lead to decline of Indian textile industry .
