Answer:

We never had untouchable cast or race in “Manu smurti” we do have ‘Shudra” means Manual laborer or farm worker or the work which require dealing with flesh or blood or waste.

“Untouchable” I think this new term British might have created.

In Hinduism in our cast system I do remember Brahmin will not drink water from different cast, so Bania will not drink water or eat from certain cast or family. The reason was hygiene and purity of life style.same way or standard is still being applied worldwide in many industries and USA lots of restaurant will not allow you to touch food. Pharmacy they will not even allow to go to certain section. So that mind set is still there.

Their way of living and thinking was very right.

Our Human body physiology has about 75 ^ water and air. Now if your internal system you maintain with certain level of highter and purer standard of living. By drinking or eating water or food from unknown source sure your system has to work hard to balance it. Therefore they had very systemic and scientific way of living. Not out of untouchability.

BRITISH blame Indian or Hindu but they were running or governing India for last 200 years. Why they did not do anything on it. Or removed it. Actually Mahatma Gandhi did a great job to help them out.

I personally think British have created the brand” untouchable” they were white, with massive power and had like-dislike toward people.

Most of British for them India was very limited to understand and they lived within their own built wall.

Can you believe lots of our own saints and Gurus also started downgrading our sanatan dharma s some kind untouchable dharma just to please or copy British Christian thinking.

Brahmo samaj, many other branded samaj and many those mind set popped up and questioning our “scientific ritual as “Andh shradha” what authorities they had that they wanted to change Hindu dharma which has been there for thousands of years and was sanatan. Now they wanted to put in their small mind or in to box thinking.

that was the time most of Indian tried to please their British bosses. And Untouchability was also brand of it.
