Answer: Forest Land alienation
One impact of centralization that is proved to be the most destructive of forest is alienation of the people from the forest land.
Villagers used forests for different needs, i.e. for fuel, fodder and leaves. After Forest Act they could not take anything from the reserved forests.
Many forests which supplied valuable timber were declared as reserved forests by the government. The tribals are not allowed to collect wood, fruits, hunt and practice shifting cultivation in these forests.
