In European history, renaissance was a period from the 14th till the 17th century, after which the modern era began. This period was a bridge between the middle ages and the modern era. Renaissance is a French word meaning rebirth. During this period there was an interest in Ancient Greece and Rome.
Great people of Art, Music, philosophy and so on graced this era and their work had a very significant contribution in shaping the modern world. Who can forget Michelangelo, Botticelli, Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci and so on. These doyens of art and culture left behind lasting impressions and a wonderful legacy in their own and allied fields for post-renaissance greats like Bach, Beethoven and Mozart to carry forward.
