The main difference in administration of Indian rulers and East India company was because Indian rulers were driven by the motive to rule large area of the subcontinent whereas the motive of East Indian company was purely economic.
Different administrative units under Indian rulers enjoyed some degree of autonomy.
East India Company came to India for their ruling and acquiring India buy their trap and having dear products to sell in market and to earn money.
