Greased cartridges:
By the end of 1857, ground for an uprising against the British was fully prepared.the immediate issue which incited the revolt was the incident of greased cartridges.in January 1857, a rumor spread like wildfire in the Bengal regiment that the cartridges were greased with the fat of cow and the pig with the deliberate aim of defining the Hindus and the Muslims alike. It annoyed both Hindu and Muslim soldiers who thought that their religion was being spoiled to convert them into Christianity. The soldiers challenged the British authority by refusing the use of greased cartridges and it ignited the fire of the uprising.(is this fine amay)
