The immediate cause of the first world war was an important event called the Sarajevo crisis that took place someday towards the end of  June and One is the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife on 28 June 1914. The heir to the throne of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie in Sarajevo, shortly before the assault by Bosnian student Gavrilo Prinzip.
