The impacts of the Indian Forest act of 1865 on lives of people were:
a) Most of the basic means of livelihood of the forest tribes were banned. The daily practices of the villagers such as cutting trees, collecting fruits and roots and fishing were made illegal
b)Forest tribes largely depended on hunting small animals like deer ,rabbit etc for food. British also banned hunting of these animals . They encouraged the sport of hunting of wild and dangerous animals like elephants, lions ,tigers etc by announcing rewards. If anyone was caught hunting illegally, they were severely punished for poaching.
c)Shifting cultivation was an agricultural system in which plots of land were cultivated temporarily and then abandoned. It was also banned by the British as the land became useless for growing timber, led to forest fires and also resulted in soil erosion.
d) The nomadic pastoral tribes were left with only 2 options - either give up and change their profession or rebel
While the Indian Forest act was a boon to british, it proved to be a bane for forest dwellers
