The partition of India, divided Punjab into the Dominion of India and Dominion of Pakistan.
Pakistan became the mostly Muslim western part and East Punjab became the most Hindu and Sikh part.
The fear of minorities was so severe that there was displacement of people and inter communal violence.
As a result no Hindu or Sikh survived in West Punjab and no Muslim survived in East Punjab.
