Most forests have been destroyed during world wars. People who wanted to save themselves from attacks rushed into forests to take cover. The US recognized this and started to spray Napalm(a plant killer) through aeroplanes which led to destruction of forests. It had a worse effect in WW-2 than in WW-1.
