He said that electrons revolve around the nucleus in a CIRCULAR PATH..it means it is an accelerated motion (if u dont know how circular motion is accelerated motion, then ask me in chat)..But every accelerated body must radiate energy..if electrons would radiate energy..then they would have fallen on the nuclues as they their energy would be finished..then the atoms wouldn't be so stable as we see today..

DRAWBACKS OF RUTHERFORD MODEL OF ATOM......

a major drawback of RUTHERFORD'S MODEL OF ATOM is that it does not explain the stability of the atom.

according to the electromagnetic theory of physics, if a charged particle undergoes accelerated motion, then it must radiate energy continuously.

to remain in a circular orbit, the electron would need to undergo acceleration. therefore, it would radiate energy. thus, the revolving electron would lose energy and finally fall into the nucleus. if this were so, the atom should be highly unstable.

therefore, matter would not exist, but we kno matter exist.it means that atoms are quite stable. thus, it could not explain the stability of an atom when charged electrons are moving under the attractive force of positively charged nucleus.
