Like in every colony the British had protected some forest areas as reserved areas and prohibited tribals to enter the forest to get firewood, fruits or to graze their cattles. This was against their tradition and their livelihood. Moreover the Forest guards would exploit them and they were forced to work in the forest without any payment. The non cooperation movement for them meant to enter the forest and use it for themselves.

Hope this helps.
