The most encouraging news for Helen's parents was that her father heard of an eminent oculist in Baltimore, who had successfully treated many hopeless cases. Her parents at once determined to take Helen to Baltimore to see if anything could be done for their beloved daughter's eyes. But Dr Chisholm couldn't do anything for Helen. However, he said that she could be educated and suggested the family to consult Dr. Alexander Graham Bell, who would be able to give the family information about schools and teachers of deaf and blind children.
