Answer: Racial Inequality.
Explanation:
Tommie Smith and John Carlos won Gold and Silver medals respectively in the 200 meters run at the 1968 Olympic Games held in Mexico. It was an international multi sport event.
While receiving their medals during the ceremony both the Afro-American athletes raised protest against the unfair treatment towards black by raising a black gloved fist during the playing of the national anthem of USA. They did so to draw attention of the international community towards the discrimination of black community.
The International Olympic Committee President termed the action as inappropriate at the time of presentation of the medal ceremony and suspended both the athletes from the USA team.
Hope this helps.
