Early history. The exactly origin of of Sufism in uncertain. Some sources state, Sufism emerged during the Islamic Golden Age from about the 9th to 10th centuries. However Islamic scholars predating, the Islamic Golden Age were referred as Sufis, like Hasan of Basra.
