Narrator had promised Helen the ghost that he would not use Ouiza board. But when lavinia,his wife brought Ouiza board from a bargain sale, Halock was scared about Helen. He tried to force lavinia to deny Ouiza boards but she did not listened to hallock. He was not convinced with the idea of lavinia of using Ouiza board.
