When Japan attacked the Pearl Harbor (American Port) during World War II. Japan thought that US will not able to harm it as Germany was with him but incidentally Germany's army start fighting with USSR.Then to maintain his(US's) reputation with other countries,he attacked on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan
